We co-create impactful solutions with entrepreneurs
to solve the unique challenges
of the African continent.
We partner with our clients to co-create human-centred solutions that drive impactful entrepreneurship and innovation forward.
Our team has worked with a wide range of entrepreneurs and organizations to design, develop and implement entrepreneurship programs and innovations in East Africa.
Through our participatory and co-creative approach we build innovations centred on the actual experiences and needs of the people we design for.
The key elements of our approach are:
We co-create and collaborate
Co-creation and collaboration is at the core of our practice. We work collaboratively with the stakeholders that are affected by a specific challenge and design, develop and implement solutions in an open, co-creative way. Our team members work in multidisciplinary teams with the employees from our partner organizations to design, develop and implement solutions. This ensures a participatory, co-creative process and knowledge transfer which in turn contribute to creating a sustainable innovation culture and practice in our partner organizations.
We are human-centred and agile
The foundation of our work is to understand the various people and groups affected by the challenge we are working on and the dynamics between each of them and between them and a potential solution. We approach each challenge as a new opportunity for innovation and subscribe to the power of learning continuously, every day. We prototype ideas quickly, learn while we build and test them and support the
implementation of tested prototypes in a phased approach. In our work we apply an innovation mindset and methods, sometimes one or several at a time. Rather than being evangelists of one method, we assess which method helps us solve the challenge at hand at this point in time. Methods we’ve worked with in the past are Design Thinking, Design Sprints, Lean Startup among others.
We are entrepreneurs supporting the innovation ecosystem
We see ourselves as one piece in the thriving innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Kenya and East Africa and aim at enabling entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and support to build impactful, sustainable and human-centred solutions. We are entrepreneurs ourselves and aim at contributing to a thriving entrepreneurship ecosystem with the work we do.
Circle Innovation went out of their way to understand our needs and customize their offering to suit us. Due to COVID they were able to deliver a virtual workshop that had a semblance of a physical in-person training. Overall our team expressed satisfaction in the delivery of the content and the quality of the facilitation. More importantly every voice in the team was heard which allowed for ownership of the workshop outputs and action plan. This workshop informed the scale up strategy for Villgro Africa!
Circle Innovation’s team worked closely with us to define goals, and then were highly autonomous to get the job done. The level of expertise and perspective they brought to our research project meant we received insightful deliverables without a lot of confusion and micromanagement.
Karina co-facilitated the ALX-Swiss Re Design sprint with a lot of engagement and experience. The balance between short theoretical input sessions and more extended sessions to define a challenge, prototype and test new ideas was excellent. The fast pace of the workshop made it possible that the young entrepreneurs (supported by Swiss Re Experts) presented their findings to a jury and got awarded within only one week.
